可見光波長有四群

1. the group of green and yellow millisecond-domain pulsed lasers: 黃綠光毫秒頻寬(long pulsed) 脈衝雷射, 主要用來治療血管異常, 血管瘤, 疤痕, 光老化, 增生病灶, 表皮斑[KTP lasers, pulsed dye lasers PDL]
2. the group of red and near infrared millisecond-domain pulsed lasers: 紅光及近遠紅外線毫秒頻寬脈衝雷射: 治療多毛, 較深的靜脈病灶
3. the group of low-power continuous green or yellow lasers:治療淺層微血管擴張及光凝固療法
4. the group of Q-switched lasers: 用來移除刺青,治療真皮黑色素細胞, 藥物色素沉澱, 及很多色素異常疾病

the near-infra-red region(700-1200nm)

1. 是穿透最深的光學射線,血液及黑色素對 這區波段的吸收很弱
2. 有alexandrite(760nm); diode(800nm, 940nm, others), Nd:YAG(1064nm)
3. alwxandrite, Nd:YAG laser 都有long pulse(millisecond)長脈衝型 及Q-switched (nanosecond)(奈秒級的超短脈衝及很高的能量)的機型
4. 半導體雷射(semiconductor diode laser): 非常有效率, 小型的固態雷射, 無法做成Q-switched, 最受歡迎的除毛雷射是810nm diode laser.
5. continuous near-infra-red lasers: 用來做靜脈內雷射, 治療靜脈曲張

the mid-infra-red region(1200-1500nm)

1. 血液及黑色素幾乎不吸收這段波長, 光子由水, 脂質, 蛋白質吸收, 主要用來做非剝離性回春( 治療光老化, 青春痘, 各樣上真皮病灶
2. 有semiconductor diode laser near 1450nm delivered with skin cooling; Nd:YAG laser at 1320nm delivered with skin cooling, and erbium fiber laser near 1550nm that delivers approximately 1million microspot laser exposures over the face for fractional resurfacing.

the far-infra-red region(>2500nm)

1. 水會強烈吸收這波段的光, Erbium 及CO2雷射因為可以精準氣化表皮及上真皮, 被用來作換膚.
2. 再換膚時, 每發CO2laser 可移除0.1mm的皮膚, 但幾乎不會出血
